The LSJ has been at the forefront of teaching journalism
and creative writing skills for three generations, and continues
to lead the way in developing new and effective teaching methods.
The result is demonstrated by the success of our students.
Although best known for our journalism courses,
half of our students are involved in other forms of writing - short
stories, novels, children's fiction, poetry, cartooning and our
English courses - which are an equally important part of our activity.
We offer distance learning courses and also
postgraduate courses
which are held in London. Our distance learning courses cover
all aspects of journalism and creative writing and our postgraduate
courses cover news, features, media law and web journalism.
We have a four week summer school
every August and a range of evening classes and short courses whch are held throughout the year.
Our distance learning students have the benefit
of regular online lectures and a bulletin board for student contact,
and those who wish may attend our weekly postgraduate general lectures
at no charge. Our students come from all
over the world, and many use our email course delivery so that
all their work and assignments are delivered in this way. Distance
learning, together with modern communications, allow student and
teacher to work closely together, regardless of physical location.
